LEGAL EXPERIENCE
Marcela Halmagean is the founder of Halmagean
Law Firm PLLC (the “Firm”).
The Firm’s practice is focused on (1) business
and commercial law and (2) family law and family
law related matters. Ms. Halmagean handles business
and commercial litigation, formation of companies,
divorces whether contested or uncontested and whether
handled through the traditional litigious way or
through the newer process of resolution called “collaborative
law”. Halmagean Law Firm also handles child
custody issues, child support litigation, pre-
and post-marital agreements, paternity lawsuits,
and adoptions.
During her professional tenure, Ms. Halmagean
worked for large corporations and law firms representing
corporate and individual entities in a variety
of legal matters such as white collar crime cases,
breach of contract, and partnership disputes. Ms.
Halmagean is a Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”).
In part due to her CFE credentials and in part
due to her degree in law, from 1997 to 1999, Ms.
Halmagean acted as Project Counsel in Zurich, Switzerland,
for one of the Big Five accounting firms on what
is today largely referred to as the “Holocaust
Project”. While working on the Holocaust
Project, Ms. Halmagean acted as the legal liaison
on banking and privacy laws issues while supervising
the risk management and compliance functions for
the project. During the law school years, Ms. Halmagean
clerked in a prosecutorial function with Harris
County District Attorney’s office in the
Special Crimes Division assisting with the prosecution
of white collar crime cases and also, as a law
clerk for a Houston criminal defense law firm.
